It means the amount of oxygen required by bacteria while stabilizing decomposable organic matter under aerobic conditions.BOD test can determine the degree of water pollution as it involves the measurement of oxygen consumed by living organisms while utilizing organic matter.The amount of oxygen required to convert the organics compound to carbon dioxide,water and ammonia.BOD test is monitored by dissolved oxygen depletion or STANDARD DILUTION METHOD.The test takes 5 days to indicate biologically degradable organic matter.
